Best Growth: Bird Friendly Coffee Roaster

During SCA Expo weekend in Houston, we attended the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Bird Friendly certification. The highlight of the evening was during the first-ever Bird Friendly Awards, when we were awarded “Best Growth: Bird Friendly Coffee Roaster”.

Best Growth is awarded to the Bird Friendly producer, importer, or roaster that has demonstrated the greatest commitment to growing their Bird Friendly business.

We started working with the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center (SMBC) Bird Friendly certification program in 2017. We purchased 761lbs of Bird Friendly coffee from Guatemala, representing less than 1% of our roasted coffees during that time. Since then, we have added Bird Friendly certified coffees from Honduras, Ethiopia, and Mexico, expanding our lineup to include a Bird Friendly Cold Brew blend and a Swiss Water Process Honduras Decaf.

In 2024, Bird Friendly certified coffee comprised one-third of our coffee portfolio, totaling over 104,000lbs, and we’re proud to say that since 2017, we have purchased over 261,000lbs of SMBC Bird Friendly certified green beans. We’re also excited to announce that we still have more new Bird Friendly coffee to release this year!
